The 2016 Gold Lunar ‘Year of the Monkey’ coin features a monkey climbing among the branches of a flowering tree. The Chinese character for “Monkey” and the inscriptions “2016”, “1 OZ” and “.9999 AU” also appear on the reverse of the coin. As with all Australian legal tender coinage, the obverse design has Ian Rank-Broadley’s effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and inscriptions that include “100 DOLLARS”, “ELIZABETH II” and “AUSTRALIA.”
