The 2016 Gold Lunar ‘Year of the Monkey’ coin features a monkey climbing among the branches of a flowering tree. The Chinese character for “Monkey” and the inscriptions “2016”, “1/20 OZ” and “.9999 AU” also appear on the reverse of the coin. As with all Australian legal tender coinage, the obverse design has Ian Rank-Broadley’s effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and inscriptions that include “5 DOLLARS”, “ELIZABETH II” and “AUSTRALIA.”
