Whether it’s an actual insult or a joke that felt more serious than it probably should’ve, your mind goes a million miles a minute analyzing everyone’s statement to death. It’s an unfortunate side effect of being such a perceptive and curious person.

You tend to second guess everything you do, from the outfit you decided to wear today to big life-changing choices. Everyone around you sees you as a very calm and collected person, but you know that it’s anything but that in your head. Your lack of confidence in many aspects of your life has pushed you to the point where you “fake it ‘till you make it” and you know that one day it’ll all work out.

Even though you’ve had people tell you that there’s no sense in comparing yourself to others, you can’t help but do it constantly. When you see someone your age accomplishing amazing things, you wonder why you haven’t done something like that. Remember that everyone has a different story and we don’t always know every aspect of it, the grass isn’t always greener on the other side!

You’re normally an incredibly rational person and a great judge of character, but your emotional side tends to win out more often than not. Sometimes it can lead to unfortunate situations, like staying in a relationship longer than you should or not taking a job out-of-state because you’ll miss your family, but it’s just who you are. You’re a very passionate person and while sometimes it doesn’t work out, you’re not really that upset by it because it made you the amazing person you are today.

You know that it’s perfectly normal to plan ahead, but most people don’t know just how much energy you spend thinking about it. When you think about the future it’s not just a casual thought, you start to explore multiple possibilities and what could possibly go wrong with each of those. It’s not uncommon for you to snowball problems and end up with the worst possible conclusion that sometimes makes you wonder “Why even bother?” Just keep pulling yourself out of that (you’re doing great!) and remember that equally fantastic things could also happen in your future!

Chances are that someone in your life has told you that your pride will be the death of you, and they may not be that off the mark. You’re very proud of yourself and admitting you’re wrong is a horrible mixture of embarrassment and “please don’t hate.” Sometimes you find it easier to just stick to your guns rather than admit defeat, but you do have moments where you wish you would’ve just swallowed your pride. Keep working on picking your battles though, you’re doing fantastic!

You rarely believe it when someone gives you a compliment.
You really wish that you could be one of those people that can gracefully accept a compliment, but you don’t really know how to act. A lot of thoughts run through your head questioning whether this person is serious or if they’re making fun of you, so you end up with an awkward laugh and flushed face. While you may want to deny it, try saying “thank you” and continue the conversation instead.

You tend to focus on how much more you still need to do, instead of on what you’ve accomplished.
You were the person in school that realized they had a 10 page essay and got so overwhelmed by it that you put it off, only causing you to get more overwhelmed. Not much has changed and you still tend to look at the mountain of things you need to do instead of giving yourself credit for all of the amazing stuff you’ve already done. Don’t be afraid to pat yourself on the back once in a while for your hard work, you deserve it!

You don’t want to risk going through the pain of what you’ve dealt with before and it can make you seem really closed off to a lot of people, but it’s what’s best for you. Don’t be afraid to branch out little by little, people want to get to know you!

Maybe it’s from watching too much TV, but you have this weird expectation of how things should be and it throws you off sometimes. You got really used to making friends while in school, but outside of school it’s been more difficult. You really want to get out there and meet new people, but you’re not entirely sure how. There’s also a voice in your head that makes you feel like you shouldn’t even bother, but try your best not to listen to that! You will figure out how to make new friends, just take it one step at a time.

You often feel completely confident in your Saturday night plans and it’s not until you go through Instagram that you start to regret them. As much as you try to fight the constant thought of “I should’ve gone” or “I wish they had invited me,” it can feel almost impossible to ignore. Don’t forget that social media never tells the whole story though! You do you and create your own memories.
